Ho, Ho, Ho!... Waaaaa!

We went to a Christmas party on Monday night with some friends, and I was really excited to have Reid's first picture with Santa. As you can see, it didn't work out too well. The picture is a little blurry, but it was hilarious. I felt so bad for laughing, but he was just sooo angry with Santa.

Fun in the Snow!

Although a lot of the snow had melted by Sunday, we really wanted to take Reid out for his first excursion. I really thought he would be a bit more excited, but he just sat there not knowing what to do. So we stood him up, and he just stood there not moving. It was so funny because it's so unlike him. He just didn't know what to think.

Seven Stages of Reid's Cake

So we had Reid's first birthday party on Saturday. We had so much fun! We had a lot of friends show up to party with us, and Reid just LOVED getting all of the attention.

Stage #1: The beautiful soccer cake that Nate and I slaved over. It wasn't perfect, but we were very proud of it.

Stage #2: light the candles and sing happy birthday to a very confused Reid.

Stage #3: switch out our beautiful cake for Reid's very own cupcake. We don't mind if he destroys that.

Stage #4: Reid tasted the frosting during stage three and then tried to shove the entire cupcake in his mouth. Luckily, he dropped it before I had to do the heimlich.

Stage #5: Mayhem ensues as Reid gets his very first taste of pure sugar.

Stage #6: More mayhem.

Stage #7: Reid manages to get the cake in his eyes and ears. At this point we just threw him into the bathtub fully clothed in a reconnaissance attempt.

Reid's Birthday Buddies

Reid with his two best buds Jack and Grant. This picture cracks me up because Reid is VERY angry about me making him wear his party hat, Jack is clearly not happy about it, and Grant just thinks everything is great. It totally sums up their personalities. It was so hilarious.

Nate took this candid snapshot during the present portion of the party. I thought it would be funny to write that there was a stripper at the party, but Nate didn't think that was appropriate. No stripper, Reid is just really excited about the blocks we got him...

Reid didn't seem to mind wearing his party hat at the beginning of the afternoon...

Reid's buddy, Grant content as always.

Laurie (Grant's mommy) reading one of Reid's birthday books to him.

Present time!

Nate and Reid after the party (and a lot of cake and ice cream) sticking out their bloated bellies.

Here is Reid in action, trying to shove his entire cake into his mouth. He has never been shy about eating, that's for sure!

Yaaaay for Snow!

We had a bit of snow on Saturday. It was really exciting, but my friend Jessica and I have been training for a half marathon, and Saturdays are supposed to be our long runs...we didn't make it that far because it turns out that running in snow is suspiciously similar to running in sand. We were pretty exhausted by the end.
