I Ran My 5K!

Just thought I would give you all a little up-date. I ran my 5K last Saturday, and it went pretty well. Because it's such a short race I had a goal to run it fast. Sadly, I was the only runner with a jogging stroller and the reason was because the path was skinny and had snow on it! I worked my butt off and had a pretty slow time because of it. The bright side was that I was a local celebrity. fifteen people must have come up to me (both during and after the race) and told me how great it was that I was running with a baby. It was pretty neat. In two weeks I run my 10K, and I am hoping that some of the snow will be gone so that I can get a better time!

The Jack Attack

So I watch my friend Jessica's little boy, Jack for a couple of hours on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and let me tell you he is a barrel of laughs! He's 8 months and has a lot of both chub and personality (which are both essential traits in cute babies) and he and Reid generally have a great time together. Reid is not so good at sharing, but we are working on it. Here they are playing in the crib together. They both started jumping and were having a great time until Jack lost his balance and hit his little chin on the railing. It was fun while it lasted, but it didn't end happy for Mr. Jack...

Fun Run(s)

OK, so I have decided to get back into the running community. It's about time! I am going to be running four events over the next few months. I signed up for a 30K winter running series in Salt Lake City where I will be running a 5K, a 10K, and then a 15K between January and February. I am pretty excited about it! Of course, this is all just practice for a half marathon I am running in SLC on April 19th. I have been running a lot and working hard, but I feel like now it's time to buckle down and get serious. I have created a pretty rigorous schedule, and I feel like if I let all of you in on my plan I HAVE to do it now, right? Wish me luck. I will keep you updated on how all of my races go!

More Snow!

So it snowed again here in good ole Provo, and I saw it as an opportunity to get Reid used to this frigid climate. We went sledding around the yard, which he LOVED.

One of his favorite things to do was eat the snow.

On the sled!

Sadly, the snow was six or seven inches deep, so walking was a bit too difficult for short little legs. Here he is after a face plant. That's cold on the nose, mommy!

Another face plant. It was pretty funny, but also sad. We went back inside after a couple of meetings with the freezing snow. Baby noses can only take so much!

No Triple Salchows Here

So I guess this picture requires a bit of a story, here goes... Nate got an academic scholarship from BYU for the year, but he is required to take a certain amount of credits to keep it. Well, this semester he needed an extra half credit, so what did I do? I signed him up for figure skating and told him that it was an ice skating class that's what. Sadly, before he went to the first day of class he read the syllabus. You should have seen the look of horror on his face when he saw that he would have to perform a three minute choreographed routine to music. Tee hee. When I sent him off with spandex in hand I think we both had the sneaking suspicion that he would have to drop his masculinity at the door before going to class. Sadly for me it turns out that you can choose to do either figure skating OR ice hockey. Guess what he chose. Although you would think that being Canadian would make you a good hockey player, trust me, it doesn't (see above photo). Somehow he landed on his chin--don't ask me how. So much for my triple salchow. It would have made SUCH a great birthday present.

*OK, so Nate wants me to edit this story for content (embellishment to be more specific). I guess he didn't ACTUALLY go to his first class with spandex, but the offer still stands if he want to borrow mine. Sorry for the exaggeration, it was only to enhance the humor in the story, and c'mon people, what do you expect from an English major anyway? The rest of the story is true though, but I know what you're thinking. Can you really trust me now, and my answer is...of course you can. Bwahahahahaha!

We're Home!

The Tulett family has been on vacation in Washington for a month, so that is why there have been no new posts for so long! But we are back, and have a lot of pictures and fun memories to share. We had a very fun trip. For the first two weeks it was just Reid and I, and then Nate flew in for the last two, and boy were we glad to see him. I have a whole new appreciation for single mommies! We saw a lot of family and friends on our trip, and ate a lot of food that was bad for us. I really loved being with family and visiting the greatest state around, but I gotta say that I was really glad to come back to Utah and get back into a routine. It's nice to be home.

P.S. Our blog got a face lift. I spent a little too much time messing around with it...

B-Day Party #2

As soon as Reid and I flew into Washington we went to a birthday party for all nine of the babies from our child-birthing class we took when I was pregnant. It was so much fun! I just loved that class, and all of the people there. They all put so much effort into this party and Reid had a great time; playing with other kids is one of his favorite things to do.

Here we all are in birth order from left to right. Our instructor took a picture just like this one of us pregnant in our due date order that I really wish I had! It's amazing how fast these little guys grow!

There was an individual cake for each baby with their name, birthday, and favorite toy. It was amazing! Also, each baby got a t-shirt with their due date number on it.

You can kind of see in this picture how great all of the decorations were, as well as some of the other cakes.

Reid before the cake all nice and clean in his t-shirt. I think he has the funniest look on his face.

And once again, Reid dives right into his cake. Mica was the only other kiddo to get as messy as Reid did. We had to rinse them off in the sink!

I just had to post all of these because they are all so cute. Reid just LOVES to eat!

Reid's New Idol

Reid and I went to Spokane for my Niece's wedding, and we drove down with Nate's sister Corrine, her husband, Kevin, and their son Allen who is three. Needless to say, we were all a little nervous about the trip because buckled kids for six hours=angry kids. As it turned out, both of them were ANGELS on the way there and back. Corrine and I were bragging about how great our kids were to anyone that would listen. It was so great because I was expecting six hours of crying, but it turned out to be a really fun car ride. I cannot even express in words what a relief that was!

Reid and Allen in the tub. Reid just fell in love with Allen. He followed him around everywhere. It was so cute to see him idolize his big cousin!

Reid laughing at Allen (not me, I'm not funny).

Cheryse's Wedding

We had a lot of fun at the wedding, mostly because Reid slept through quite a bit of it. The food was really yummy, and it was free. What more could a girl want?

Reid suuure loves his aunties, and Auntie Denise is no exception. He took to her right away (as evidenced by the snuggling).

Reid and his cousin Chris

Most of the Tulett family. There are actually a few missing Believe it or not.

Silly bridesmaids, tricks are for kids.

In Nate's absence, Reid was my date to the wedding. Isn't he just a handsome little devil?

Me with my hands full of wiggly baby.

Reid and cousin Audrey. She is three months older, so Reid was constantly trying too keep up.

The bride and I

Reid and Auntie Corrine. Yet another one of his aunties who he adores.

La Casa De Lilley

We set up home base at my Dad's house because he has a lot of space, and two extra rooms so Reid could have his own. That was a real treat. Reid actually slept better there than he has been at home! He also had a fabulous time with my dad, and there were even a few times when he wanted to go to Grandpa instead of mom! He and Grandpa laughed, ran around the house together, and Grandpa even taught Reid how to dance. Boogie down Grandpa.

We went and picked out a Christmas tree, and Great Grandpa and MaryLou came over to decorate it with us. Here is Reid and Grandpa displaying the finished product.

Reid getting into the ornaments. Naughty naughty. Santa still came though, WHEW!

One night we went over to my brother Josh and his wife Juanita's house for dinner. Here is Reid playing with his cousin Lilyanna. Isn't she just gorgeous? Also, their cat "Shart" is in the background. Don't ask about the name, trust me.

We went up to Grandma's house and did a little Christmas shopping. Here we are at the Olive Garden having a delicious meal. Grandma even offered to change Reid's diaper. That was sure a first, no one EVER offers to change diapers. Thanks, Grandma!

It's Christmas morning and Nate is Super excited to be wearing spandex.

Grandpa helping Reid open presents

We spent Christmas morning at Grandpa's house, and we all got spoiled! Santa really did come (in the form of Grandpa), it was great fun. Then we went over to Great Grandpa and MaryLou's for Christmas dinner. The dinner was amazing (as usual) and the apple pie was even better.

La Casa De Tulett

After Christmas We went and stayed with Nate's parents for a few days. We had a lot of fun, and Grandma & Grandpa Tulett even watched Reid while we went on a date for the first time since we moved to Utah. We saw almost all of Nate's family as well as a few friends up in Bellingham.

I think this picture is hilarious because it's so clearly Reid's bed time. He's a bit stary-eyed.

Look how excited Reid is to be with Auntie Tammy!

While we were on our date night apparently Nate's mom sneezed and Reid almost died laughing. After that he would walk up to her and say "achoo!" so she would do it back to him and he would laugh again. Here he is with dad doing his new favorite trick.

Family Pic

Here we are, one big happy family. My dadums, me, Reid, and hubby. Nate actually tried to photoshop this picture so that we all had mustaches like my dad. It was pretty hilarious, but we couldn't quite get it to work. Let me tell you though, Reid is suuuure handsome with a stash.
