Little Helper

Nate comes from a family of window washers, so when Grandpa and Grandma Tulett came into town for a visit Reid had to get a little "family Business" training in. Reid LOVES to help, and he also LOVES his Grandpa Tulett, so it's a win-win really. Anyway, Nate's parents and about 12 (not exaggerating) other family members came into town to visit in August. We had one full little house. To give you a clearer mental picture Nate and I slept in the kitchen on an air mattress. Awesome.

Also, this is the only picture I took the whole week they were here. This is why I couldn't cut it in the journalism business--I don't take pictures. At all. Also, I'm pretty bad at interviewing too. So, pretty much all I can do is write. What were we talking about again?

Two Moms and a Pop

Waaaay back in August I did a half iron man as a relay with my great friends Jen and John, and our team name was Two Moms and a Pop-awesome, right? Anyway, I did the swim, Jen did the bike and John did the run. It was really a good time, but I literally took a pregnancy test right before I went to the race, and was sort of preoccupied. This is code for: I had a super crappy swim time.

HOWEVER, I know you are only reading this for my embarrassing story, so here you go: In September I ran this relay with a group of 12 people, (I only knew a few of them) and there was this one 20 year old guy on my team. He was super nice, and I had his number in my phone because we had to do a lot of prep work for the race as a team. SO I have this single college student dude's number in my phone. Well, I ALSO happen to have that KILLER picture of me in my wetsuit featured in my "bun in the oven" post below (go ahead and look, I'll wait...) Are you back? Good. Well, Reid was playing with my phone, and SOMEHOW sends THAT picture to my single college student friend, and to make it worse he somehow typed in the word "bed" underneath it (go ahead and look at it again to get the full effect, I'll wait...) So, am I super awesome or what? Also, I DID pee my pants Megan, but I waited until I got in the water. Don't judge!

Anyway, here is John, Jen and me before the race started. We were all nervous and excited!

Jen coming in from the bike, and passing our timing chip to John. Jen was a rock star. She crashed, went off course a bit and STILL came in before most of the other women. I fully believe she would have had the fastest bike time if she hadn't had so many problems. She is my hero.

This is after John came in from the run. This was his first running race EVER (he is a super duper biker like Jen) and he did so well. He came in right on his goal time, and even managed to pass a few people. Most importantly, he passed one of his fellow police officers who had been talking smack ever since we signed up for this race!

After the race with our kiddos.

After I have this baby I'm going to do one of these all by myself! I can't wait!

Question...

What has two thumbs and a bun in the oven?

This girl!!!

P.S. I have a REALLY embarrassing story about this picture (other than the picture itself being pretty unflattering) that I will elaborate on in another post...stay tuned.

Summertime in T-Town

The boys and I flew home to visit my family (and go to Tyrel's wedding-even though I have no photo evidence of that!). Link fell asleep in the car for maybe the third time in his life. Papa just wore him out!

My sister, Icel called and met the kids, our mom, and I at Red Robin to do some catching up and some good old fashioned eating-one of my favorite activities. Her kiddos are so much fun, and Reid has been asking about them ever since!

Icel and me

One thing I love about summer in Washington is that it's typically so mild- Link even wore a coat! My dad and I took them to the park by his house and instead of playing on the swings the kids decided that they would rather be baseball players

Safe!

I love this action shot of Reid coming into third base-he's a natural!

Papa and his boys!

Reid giving Link some brotherly love. Link wasn't feeling so lovey-dovey that day. Or ever really-he is the anti-cuddle.

My dad had a pretty severe leg injury, so he decided to ride around Fred Meyer in one of these babies. I'm not gonna lie, I was a little embarrassed-he though it was the best idea ever though!

One morning I bathed the kids together, and then took Linkers out to get him dressed. I went in the other room for like two seconds and came back to find that Reid had given Link an extra wash.

The first couple of days we were there it was unbearably HOT, so we headed over to the pool! This is my kid's most favorite activity. It was hilarious to watch my dad try to hobble around after these two on his bum leg!

Banana!

Thanks for all of the fun Nana and Papa! We can't wait to come back!

Park City Triathlon

Yay for more tiny pictures! Nate couldn't come to this race, and I didn't know anyone else doing it, so I only have the pictures that the photography company took, and I don't think they're with $50, so tiny pictures it is!

This was my second Olympic triathlon, and even though I didn't place very well, I actually felt really good about it.

Nate and I drove the bike course the night before, and our car almost overheated. It was REALLY hilly, and I didn't know that before I signed up. This race was a cyclist's race, and a biker I am not, so I lost a bit of time on the bike. I did surprise myself though and I felt really great the whole race. Even though the bike was very difficult I found that I really enjoyed myself.

The run was awesome, and was my favorite part. I passed a few guys that passed me on the bike. Yippee!

There were only 15 women doing the Olympic triathlon, and I got 9th place. Not so good. However, the women that did do it were all great bikers, (I chatted with them before the race) and most of them were from Park City and biked the course all the time. They all went to the same master's swim class, and all knew each other. Great. They all have aero-helmets too. Sigh. I knew from the beginning that I wouldn't be able to keep up with them and their fancy triathlon bikes.

The good news is that it was only my second Olympic race, and these ladies had done quite a few. I really hope I get a chance to do this race again. It was really fun. We had 2 transition areas too, which was kind of a pain, but I liked that the course wasn't out and back.

I am really behind on my posting, so I am going to blog little by little over the next few days!

So Jealous

Right now my Mom is at THIS guy's concert. He is my absolute favorite singer of all time. I love, love, love him, and I was so sad that I couldn't go see him in person because he NEVER does concerts, but he just happened to be doing ONE show in Washington. His next few shows are all out of the country, so I'm out of luck. Fortunately for me my sweet mom just called me from the concert and held her phone up towards the stage so I could hear my most favorite of favorites. Sigh.

Anyone know who he is? I know you would know a couple of his more popular songs...

Oh, and these days he looks more like this...but he still sounds oh-so-sweet!

Which One of These Things is Not Like the Other?

Sahara, Me, Erin, Sarah

I wasn't too happy with my swim time at Scofield, so I decided to give the master's swim class a try. I know a few people there, and I feel like I can really improve by swimming with faster people, and by having a coach. It's a tough class, but I really, really like it, AND I'm not the slowest one there huzzah!

Anyway, this particular day happened to be a "test" day where the coach had us swim 13x200 meters as fast as we could. THAT was a tough work out, but I would never have done it by myself. I really like having someone there to push me. The only time I like being told what to do is when I'm exercising!

The REAL reason I am posing this though is because USUALLY when I see a picture of myself in a bathing suit I think; "Is that how I really look?! I need to lose a few pounds!" This time, however my first thought was; "holy crap I am SHORT! Like not just a little shorter than the others, but short like I am a little kid sitting at the grown-ups table." It cracks me up every time I look at it!
