Oh the Life of a Homemaker!

So, you will all be so proud of me. Our landlords gave us two giant zucchinis, and instead of letting them rot on top of my fridge like I would normally do, I grated both of them by hand and made seven loaves of bread (I had enough to make twelve, but I froze the rest of the zucchini for later). Also, we had a bunch of ripe bananas from when our air conditioning broke and fruit was rotting the day we brought it into our house, so I made bread out of that too. I gave most of it to some of the couples at church that we have gotten to know a little bit because hey, what better way to make friends than by bribing them with food. My personality alone is certainly not going to cut it. For those of you that are interested, here is the recipe for the zucchini bread. It was really good:

Zucchini Chocolate Bread

3 large eggs
1 cup vegetable oil
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 cups sugar
3 cups grated zucchini
3 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
3/4 cup chocolate chips (either milk chocolate or semi-sweet)

Preheat oven to 325 degrees. In medium bowl combine the sugar, eggs, oil, vanilla extract, and zucchini. In a large bowl, combine flour, cocoa, baking soda, cinnamon, salt, and baking powder. Stir in chocolate chips. Add zucchini mixture to dry ingredients and mix until blended. Pour into 2 greased 8 1/2 x 4 1/2 inch loaf pans. Bake 65-70 minutes or until a knife or toothpick comes out clean.

* For some of my loaves I left out the cocoa just to see what it was like, and that was good also. I was also able to bake my bread in about 45 minutes, so you might want to check it often=)

Counting Sheep

Every night I go in to check on Reid before I go to bed, and this is what I see. He refuses to sleep on his back, and prefers sleeping on his knees with his tushy high in the air. What a cutie.

Finally He Can Crawl!

If you look close, you can see his tongue sticking out of the corner of his mouth. He loves that.

Finally Reid has perfected "The Crawl." I think the smile on his face says it all.

Of course, with every smile comes a whole lot of drool.

Little House by the Freeway

This picture was taken from our porch during the thunder storm, and yes we really live right under the freeway overpass. It's not so bad...I'm getting used to the hum of the cars, and this nice big tree blocks our view from some angles. I mentioned before that our air conditioning broke last week, well today the repair men were here from 11:00am-10:30pm fixing it. It finally works now horray! Reid and I are excited to be able to wear pants and open the blinds again.

Singing in the Rain

I am so excited, it finally rained here! It has threatened a couple of times, but liquid actually fell from the sky yesterday and today. I was so happy that I ran out to enjoy it. You can't really tell in this picture, but it's actually raining really hard in addition to a pretty sweet thunder shower. If I squint real hard I can almost convince myself that I'm back in Washington...

What's Up Doc?

Grandpa Lilley gave Reid a brand new highchair when he drove down to Utah with Nate, and as you can see it's one of Reid's new favorite places. Also, he loves carrots. Whole. He took this one in the bathtub with him and screamed when we tried to take it away.

We Made it to Utah!

Well, here we are in sunny Provo, Utah. As you can see Reid has already taken advantage of the heat and loves lounging in his new baby pool. It has been pretty hot here, and the fact that our air conditioning just broke hasn't helped much.
