So, for those of you who have not known Nate that long I will tell you that he sometimes gets misinterpreted as being a "goodie goodie" at best, and a little judgmental or self-righteous at worst. In fact, this is what kept me from wanting to date him for so long when I first met him! ANYWAY, the truth is that he always has his heart in the right place, and is just the kind of person that has an over-active conscience. What this is all leading to is that someone at BYU nominated him for the "Brigham Award" which is described by the BYU website as follows:
"The Brigham Awards gives students an opportunity to nominate other students, faculty and staff who give service and are not highly recognized for their efforts.
The Brigham Awards spotlight the "unsung heroes" on campus.
They are genuinely good people who don't expect to get anything back."Apparently he was one of five finalists, but lost to some other jerk-face award stealer (just kidding!). So, there you have it. Nate was actually nominated for being extra "Christ-like" at BYU of all places. Man, he really IS a goodie-goodie! Unfortunately, now all of his friends at school make fun of him, and tell him he deserves some kind of award every time he does something nice.
Although it's kind of a funny award, and he didn't actually win, I am really proud of him for being such a good guy! Way to go, Nate!

That's really awesome! I would vote for him. Nate has alway been there for me whenever I needed him and sometime even when I didn't know I needed him. He really is an unsung hero. Nate has always been one of my heroes, award or no award. I love ya Brother.
That's funny because I've never thought of Nate like that. But reading this reminded me of a funny story of Mike's at BYU - he was in a class once and the girl next to him had on this immodestly short skirt, so Mike turns to her and says something to the effect of "Your skirt makes me uncomfortable." She gave him a nasty look, but he never saw her wear it again!
And thank you so much for your comment on our blog. I worried last night after I wrote it that maybe I was sharing too much of myself, or that it would be taken in a way I hadn't intended, or too emotional, or something. Your comment makes me feel better though. I think I'm just insecure. :) Thanks though, you're awesome Carlee!!
Ha ha ha. I love it! One of the Mr. Nice Guy things that Nate did for me was pick my boyfriend (now husband) up from the airport in Vancouver. We had arranged for my brother to come and get us. After waiting for him for an hour we finally got a hold of him and found out that he thought we were coming in a week later than we actually were...and he was about 3 hours away and in the middle of something. Nate was in Blaine and popped on over to get us. It should have been a cut and dry trip but we didn't have Tymon's paperwork for the border. So Nate stayed with us for about an hour as we tried to explain to the border patrol why Tymon's naturalization papers spelled his name Timon and that he really is a US citizen and really should be allowed back into the country. It was brutal and Nate had plenty of nice things to say about those border guys. ha ha ha. Bottom line: we were stuck in Canada and Nate came to the rescue and saved us.
I taught him everything he knows. You've done well Grasshopper.
By the way, Happy Birthday Carlee! (A couple of hours ago)
